Atlas Copco, the holding company for ABAC Air compressors (which FSFM imports directly from Italy), inaugurated a new distribution and service centre in Johannesburg on February 21, 2014.
These brand-new facilities in Johannesburg east, which cost about 200-million rand, will serve as a hub for the distribution of equipment from Atlas Copco’s four business areas, namely compressors, rock drills, construction equipment and power tools. It will seek to provide shopping opportunities for consumers needing a wide variety of equipment.
“South Africa is an important market to us. This investment in the new centre will benefit customers by giving them easier access to our products and improved service,” said Ronnie Leten, President and CEO of the Atlas Copco Group.
Approximately 450 employees work at the 20 acre premises, which also hosts the administration building. The premises were built with high environmental standards in mind, including recycling of excess material excavated from the site, and the installation of solar water heating and low-energy lighting.
